Donations Accepted

Rachel’s Light Donation Policy
Please see below for acceptable and non-acceptable donations.

ACCEPTED ITEMS:     

Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer.                

 

APPAREL

  • Women's clothing, shoes* and accessories

  • Men's clothing, shoes* and accessories

  • Children's clothing, shoes* and accessories

*Shoes must be new, or like new.

PLEASE NOTE: 
Due to space, only new and very gently seasonal pre-owned clothing is accepted.  (We cannot take sweaters in July for example)

Alternative donation sites: Salvation Army, Unique Finds/Community Pathways

 

BATTERY OPERATED ELECTRONICS – Less than one year old

  • Radios and receivers

  • CD players

  • Boom boxes

 

BOOKS              

  • Hard- or soft-covered books of any genre (tasteful)

 

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Bicycles

  • Clean sporting good items

  • Seasonal decor is accepted 60 days prior to the event (i.e. Easter decor cannot be accepted in October)

 

SMALL ELECTRONICS – Less than one year old – No exceptions

  • DVD players – Please test all items

  • Stereos and speakers

  • Kitchen items

  • Games and toys

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED 

 

APPLIANCES

  • Refrigerators, dishwashers, furnaces, stoves, washing machines

  • Air conditioners, dehumidifiers

 

ELECTRONICS

  • Computers, laptops and printers

  • Glass screen televisions and monitors (we DO accept LCD, LED or plasma flat screens, or )

  • Electrical fixtures and bulbs

  • Electronics over one year old

 

FURNITURE

  • Mattresses, box springs, sleeper sofas and water beds

  • Baby furniture, car seats, cribs and other equipment (i.e. motorized kids jeep, etc.)

  • Artificial flowers/plants

  • Unstable furniture (chairs that need reinforcing, etc.)

 

OTHER ITEMS

  • Automotive materials* including tires, mufflers and fenders

  • Construction and plumbing materials, carpet, windows, tubs, doors, door handles, etc.

  • Consumer product recalled items

  • Gas-powered equipment like chainsaws, lawn mowers and snow blowers

  • Hazardous materials, batteries, paints, household chemicals, cleaning supplies, poisons, liquids

  • Large exercise equipment like treadmills and stationary bikes

  • Weapons, explosives, ammunition, flares

  • Garage door openers

  • Used batteries

  • Stuffed animals

  • Used notebooks, trapper keepers, etc.

 

If we are unable to use your donation at our home or for a guest It may be able to be resold at our online store. Our donation coordinators will be able to make that determination.
